Le Center, MN

Corn: 180 acre field averaged “just shy of” 300 BPA. Farmer’s best field, he was very pleased.

Soybean yield 58.7 over 1425 acres. Farmer is very pleased

 

Marshall, MN (SW district)

Beans: 4 fields, 320 acres, average 40 BPA (APH 47). Very dry

Corn: 200 acres yield 147 (APH 172)

Bean harvest complete on several hundreds of acres:

Average 70 BPA (60 APH), 400 irrigated, but colossal surprise overall. August rains more-timely than expected

Corn: 220 BPA Average, Ranging 200-230, APH 195 15.5% Moisture

Had done a yield check Aug 10th, estimated at 150-160 bpa, 2-3 inch tip back at the time, currently seeing ½ inch.

 

Elbow Lake, MN, West Central:

Beans: finished: 55 BPA farm average (52 APH) on several hundred acres. Quite pleased as very dry season until mid-August

First corn field: (worst broken down stalks): 175 BPA (APH 200)

Soybeans: 150 acres – 135 irrigated – went 91 across the scale – record

30 miles west of Omaha

160 acres went 252 bpa vs 197 average

 

Washburn, North Dakota,

770 bean acres ran yield 8 with APH 35.

1000 corn acres not above 40,

1000 corn acres about 120 with APH 135, AVG 80 on farm.

 

East central ND. Soybeans averaged 16 bushels, APH is 40.

We haven't started corn but neighbors are disappointed. 70-120 bushels. APH is 155-180

 

Putnam County, OH

Corn: 38 acres, 222 bu/a Best ever! Would have been better but tar spot took a few bushels off at the end.

Northeast, IN

Corn: 80 acres planted 4/25 on sandy soil went 230bpa, a record vs. APH of 180bpa. All farms combined record yield was 213bpa in 2018 for reference.

Minnesota:

  • West Central, MN – Beans, 500 acres, 63 bpa, new record, 49 APH, late rains really helped.

 

Illinois:

  • LaSalle – Soybeans, 73 bpa
  • Hancock – Beans, 176 acres, 76 bpa across the scale; second field 82 bpa. Some hail damage on these fields. About average for these fields.
  • McLean – Beans, one field went 73 bpa and the other 75 bpa, pleased, close to record

 

Iowa:

  • Story – Beans, 1,000 acres, 73 bpa, record by 7 bpa, most beans planted after continuous corn, was in Derecho area last year.
  • Spencer, IA – Beans, 400 acres, 63-64 bpa which is good, it was dry, best-ever is 68 bpa
  • Greene – Beans, 1,000 acres , 71 bpa avg, 60 APH
  • Van Buren – Corn, 160 acres, 150 bpa, about 30 below APH. Another field went 165 bpa, 25 below APH
  • Guthrie - Soybean yields 58,62,66,69. APH 55-60 bpa
  • Carroll - 71 bpa beans. August rains really helped; 80 acres of corn 244 bpa, 210 APH
  • Carroll - Bean yields of 60, 63, 66,68, 72 bpa. APH in low 60s
  • Henry - Corn 15% below 5 yr avg, Soybeans 10% below 5 yr avg, very disappointed on what looked like a record crop in August.
  • Lee - Corn 165,175, 185, 200 bpa
  • Lee - 90 acres of corn, 225 bpa, near APH; Various soybean yields 63,66,72,74,58,60 bpa, maybe 5 bpa better than expected
  • Mahaska - 80 bpa soybeans, best ever
  • Jefferson - Big yield range. 130 to 160 bpaon some fields, other fields 180-200-220. Corn drying down way too fast
  • Madison – Soybeans, 39 bpa, APH 53 bpa; Soybeans 51 bpa on poorer ground
  • Des Moines County - Corn 170-240 bpa dry, Corn on corn took a hit and tar spot killed corn in late August; Soybeans, 74 bpa, Some of the best yields ever for this farm.
  • Audubon – Beans, 180 acres 65 bpa. Great yield. Hilly ground. Had cattle manure applied.

 

Indiana:

  • Kosciusko – Beans, 321 acres, 78 bpa, 60aph, Highest ever for whole farm
  • Elkhart – Beans, 104 acres, 68 bpa, 55 aph

 

Missouri:

  • Audrain – Beans, 200 acres, 45 bpa-stunted by being too wet early on, too dry in August and not getting optimum fill; 85 acres corn, 160 bpa, pleased considering dry finish-about average
  • Chariton - gumbo bean acres going 60 bpa with a lot of water holes
  • Lafayette – Corn, 500 acres, 180-210 bpa between fields, hoped for better but will take it considering planting conditions
  • Saline – Corn, 180 bpa-about average for them-too dry during fill

 

Kansas:

  • Montgomery - 100 acres beans, 40 bpa on good ground, poorer ground in the 30s, somewhat pleased considering how dry August was.
  • Hiawatha, KS - 300 acres beans 3.7 maturity 65 bpa, above expectations and aph

  • Dyersville, IA – Soybeans, 70-77 bpa; corn 200-220 bpa.
  • Jesup, IA - Early beans 60-70 bpa, expected to do better; corn 220-230 bpa.
  • Grinnell, IA - Soybeans, 60s and 70s bpa, better than expected; Corn 250 bpa, Small 17 acre field south of Grinnell on heavy manure 323 bpa.
  • Mitchell County - Just getting started, beans 50s and 60s, about average, later beans expected better

Iowa:

  • Hardin – Beans, 60.2 bpa, best ever, caught good Aug rains, fungicide saved it, corn on corn for three years in a row
  • Dana, Iowa – Corn, 160 acres, 250bpa (via yld monitor), 15.3-18.0% moisture, rotated, had cows on it all winter, early spring so some compaction issues
  • Dallas - 40 acres Soybeans 55bpa, rotated
  • Webster – Soybeans, 50 acres, 71 bpa, caught some timely rains
  • Webster – Corn, 84 acres, 304 bpa across the scale, Stunned

 

Illinois:

  • Woodford – Soybeans, 100 acres, 75 bpa, 72 APH
  • Pike - Early variety beans, 55-60 bpa; Later variety 68-74 bpa, disappointed, variability is much larger than usual. Heavy rains in July followed by not enough rain in August-Sept.
  • Moultrie – Soybeans, 100 acres, 2.9 non gmos, 68 bpa; 160 acres 3.2 non gmos, 62 bpa, there was a lot of water damage on these.
  • Montgomery – Soybeans, 160 acres, 70 bpa, somewhat disappointing
  • Hancock - Soybeans: first 3 field averages 73,74 and 80 bpa, disappointing as typically 80+bpa
  • Madison – Soybeans, 80 acres, 78bpa, moisture less than 10%
  • McLean – Soybeans, 80 acres, 66.7 bpa, very pleased, above APH.

 

Minnesota:

  • Fillmore – Soybeans, 94 acres, 61.43 bpa, 48 APH, surprised
  • Lincoln – Corn, 220 acres, 51 bpa, satisfied, very dry all summer

 

Indiana:

  • Southeast Indiana - Soybeans: First field went 55.6bpa vs. 70-75bpa normal. Too much rain early and not enough late; Corn: First field went 262bpa, a record for that field that normally is around 225bpa, expect this was the worst field

 

Nebraska:

  • Thayer - irrigated beans, mid 80’s bpa, touch better than expected
  • Dawson - irrigated beans, mid 80’s boa, couple fields pushing right at 90’s, on field average

 

North Dakota:

  • McLean County – Corn, 160 bpa, near heart of the drought one or two timely rains

Iowa:

  • Pocahontas - 145 acres beans, 74.9 bpa
  • Grand Junction, IA – Soybeans, 40 acres rotated ground, 58.5bpa across the scale
  • Calhoun - Beans 66-70 bpa, 5-10 above APH; and corn running 220 bpa, above 15 above APH

 

Illinois:

  • McLean - 200 acres corn, 201.4  bpa
  • East Iroquois - 40 Acres Corn, 174 bpa, 15% moisture, APH 210
  • Lee County - Beans averaging 74 bpa, about as expected and slightly above APH
  • Iroquois – Beans, 70 bpa (best farm) vs 58 APH, expecting mid/upper-50’s
  • McHenry – Beans, 71-72 bpa, and 60-62 bpa; close to expectations
  • Ogle - Beans 75 bpa & smaller field did 80 bpa, 55 APH, neither had beans on them in a while, far better than expected
  • Winnebago – Beans, worst ground did 51 bpa vs 47 APH, Average was 65 bpa vs APH in mid-upper 50’s, better than expected

 

Minnesota:

  • Swift/Kandiyohi:

1) 300 acres beans = 49 BPA (52 APH)

2) 160 acres beans = 63 BPA (57 APH)

Note: No spider mites, caught August rain

3) 160 acres corn = 220 BPA (195 APH)

Note: Surprised indeed. Corn on beans, planted early, late rains helped

  • Lyon:

1) 400 acres beans = 51 BPA (57 APH)

2) 160 acres beans = 55 BPA (57 APH)

3) Field close to Marshall, MN = 44 BPA (52 APH).

Note: Very dry pocket, estimated 35, so relieved.

 

Wisconsin:

  • Rock - Soybean yields of 71, 60, 55, 57 bpa vs APH of 52-53
  • Walworth - Soybeans low 70’s bpa vs 52-54 APH

 

Indiana:

  • Kosciusko - 30 acres corn, 198 bpa dry, moisture 25-28%, sprayed with fungicide and still had tar spot bad, still this was best ever yield, normally 170 bpa

 

Nebraska:

  • Antelope – Soybeans, 70 Acres irrigated, 93.5 bpa across the scale
  • NC Nebraska - Soybeans first pivot running 85 bpa, will be record if it holds, planted late April

 

North Dakota:

  • Cass - ½ section beans, 18 bpa, 40 APH, not surprised
  • Ransom - 90 acres beans, 21 bpa, 39 APH, very disappointing, hoping for 10 better, rains too late
  • West of Devil’s Lake, ND – Beans, 50 acres continuous plant, 21 bpa, 31 APH, very dry summer; Prevent plant ground yielding 8-10 bpa better than continuous

Nebraska:

  • Hampton, Iowa - 94 acres, 197 bpa, 21-22% moisture. 2 yrs ago yielded 222 with similar moisture

Illinois:

  • Hancock - Corn 210 bpa and 220 bpa, 16.4-17% moisture, fungicide applied, about as expected and average

Minnesota:

  • Waseca – Corn 214, bpa, high population, good stand, drier conditions, pleasantly surprised
  • Redwood - #1. Beans, 32 bpa, very dry area; #2. Beans, 45 bpa, less than hoping for; #3. Beans, 41 bpa, disappointed; #4. Silage appraisal at 189 bpa, range of 145-220. Appraisor said due to the yield variability in the field, not sure if the 189 would hold over the whole works; #5. Corn: 40 acres, 130 bpa, as expected, very dry area.
  • Tracy, MN – Beans, 60.5 bpa, 60 APH, fairly pleased with results.
  • Lyon – Beans, 182 acres, 39.7 bpa, 56 APH, rains came too late.
  • Lyon – Beans, 50 acres, 55.5 bpa, very pleased.
  • Lyon – Beans, sub 30 bpa

  • Lee - Downed corn, scout estimated it at 190 bpa but coming in at 227 bpa
  • Lee - Early corn (103-104 day), 205 bpa, disappointing
  • Iroquois – Corn, 220 bpa, about as expected, past record is 250 bpa
  • Iroquois – Beans, 58 bpa, as expected

Forest City, IA - Corn going 240 bpa vs 220 two years ago (200 expected), corn on beans, heavy hog manure

Fort Dodge, IA - Soybeans 80 acres, 68 bpa

Lohrville, IA – Soybeans 77 bpa

Gilmore City, IA - Two different corn fields going 249 bpa and 238 bpa, 99 day corn, farmer is pleased.

 

Illinois:

Livingston - Beans running 68 bpa, better than expected.

El Paso, IL - Corn: 114 day hybrid w/fungicide 240 bpa, 56 lb test, 20% moisture with some stalk lodging but harvestable

Henry County -130 acres of corn on bean ground 213 bpa, 233 APH

Henry County - 160 acres of corn on bean ground 223, 240 APH

 

North Dakota:

Mclean County, ND - Corn 70 bpa, ground zero for drought, expected 50 bpa

Cass - Beans 25 bpa, way worse than expected, 48 APH

Cass - Beans 45 bpa, about as expected

Page, ND - 185 acres dry land corn, 120 bpa, 18-19% moisture, 155 APH, expected worse

Stark County - 450 acres corn, 230 bpa, some of their best ground, expected 250-270 bpa a month ago.

 

Kansas:

Hiawatha, KS - 330 acres of dryland corn, 243 bpa at 22.5% moisture. Irrigated is running about 20 bpa better

 

Missouri:

Chariton County, MO - Early number w drown out spots 15.5% 180 bpa; 2nd field 206 bpa; 3rd field 220 bpa, this field never been better than 200, field in today running 280  (283 bpa in 2017) No disease issues- fungicide used, stalk quality good. Good crop but not over the top.

 

Indiana:

Edinburgh, IN – Corn planted April 4, 190-215 bpa

Edinburgh, IN – Corn planted April 25, 160 bpa, 235 bpa last year

Minnesota:

  • Grant - 170 acres beans, 28 bpa, normal is 45-50
  • Fergus Falls, MN - Early Beans, 40 BPA (APH 46), good ground, dry/wind
  • 3rd week August, yield could have been worse
  • Marshall, MN -  beans, really early, ugly sub 25 bpa

Iowa:

  • Cerro Gordo - 200 acres soybeans 68 bpa, expected 50-53
  • Buchanan - Soybean yield of 68bpa. Moisture 13.4%. Better than expected.

Illinois:

  • Highland, IL - 500 acres corn, 230bpa, 15bpa better than last year.
  • Moultrie/Douglass - 1,200 acres of corn 223.8-bpa, disappointed by at least 10 bpa, lots of disease pressure and light test weight
  • Moultrie/Douglass – first beans an “absolute disaster”, 45-50-bpa with 30 bpa swings
  • Moultrie - corn running 230-235-bpa, not too far off of avg., expected 250 bpa, stock quality was a concern
  • Morgan and Scott Co - 442 acres corn 234 bpa, as expected.
  • Hancock - corn 210 bpa, disappointed, moisture had dropped rapidly – 14%
  • Knox - Corn running 190-bpa at 27% moisture, this field had corn blown down by wind, as expected, 220 APH  
  • McClean – corn running from 235-250-bpa, bit better than expected, above APH

South Dakota:

  • Hutchinson - 1000 acres corn, 120 bpa, 14-16%, 165 APH, expected 130’s
  • Sioux Falls, SD - soybeans real ugly…20’s

Kansas:

  • Delphos, KS – corn 140 bpa, at expectations
  • Overbrook, KS - corn 147bpa, right at expectations
  • Scandia KS - corn 70 bpa, below 100 bpa expectations
  • Scandia, KS – corn 110bpa, below expectations, 140APH
  • Marquette, KS – corn 95 bpa, right at expectations
  • Clyde, KS – corn 110bpa, below expectations

Arkansas:

  • Phillips, AR - soybeans 650 acres, mostly irrigated, 67 bpa, as expected, 66 bpa the previous year

Texas:

  • Taylor, TX – corn, 170bpa, above expectations

Iowa:

  • Osceola County - Early beans 126 acres, 64 bpa, better than expected
  • Eastern IA - 300 acres, corn 180-230 bpa…very happy considering these were lighter soils and fields that missed the rains.
  • Eastern IA - 100 day corn averaged 245 bpa; another field went 230 bpa
  • Eastern IA - 200 acres, lighter ground went 230 bpa, very pleased
  • Eastern, IA - beans 58 bpa at 11.8%, also reports of 65 and 68.

Illinois:

  • Sullivan, IL - 125 acres corn, 221 bpa, 22%, 209 bpa in 2019
  • Fulton - 1st field of corn went 240 bpa vs 215 last year
  • Morgan - 80 acre corn 252 bpa, 50 acre corn 215 bpa, Both 10-15% higher than APH

North Dakota:

  • Buffalo, ND - Soybeans 28 bpa

Kansas:

  • Haskell - almost didn’t get all the silage and high moisture corn done as quick as everything is drying down - already to 18-24%, went from disappointing to extremely pleased, best on irrigated was 230 bpa, much higher than expected
  • Coffey 80 acres corn, 130 bpa-poor ground, about average but expected better

Missouri:

  • Scotland - 60 acres corn 227 bpa dry, expecting 180-200
  • Chariton - fields in hills went 130-150 bpa, disappointing, 180 APH
  • Chariton - fields south of Hwy 24 going 200-230 bpa, better than average, pleased
  • Chariton - fields northeast part of county, 180-200 bpa, no records but pleased

North Dakota:

  • Sargent - beans 32 bpa (42 APH), thought fields would do 45, but 5 days high heat/wind took toll.

Mississippi:

  • Sunflower – soybeans irrigated, 95-105 bpa

  • Roelyn – Corn … 80 acres, 186 bpa, 29% moisture
  • Dawson – Soybean … 64 bpa, 13.2% moisture
  • Mapleton – Corn … 240 bpa dry, no comparison for last year
  • Jasper – Soybeans … 80 acres, 79.5 bpa
  • Dallas – Corn … 224 acres … 300 bpa, record yield for that field
  • Marion – Corn … 215 bpa vs 235 in 2020, 30% moisture

 

Illinois:

  • Champaign – Corn … 106 day - 199 bpa, 107 day - 217 bpa
  • Champaign – Corn … 80 acres, 20.68% moisture, 56.39 test weight, 243 bpa
  • Bloomington – Corn … 215 bpa, expected 230 bpa, poor stalk quality, 20” of rain
  • Sangamon – Soybeans … 100 acres, 57 bpa, 5 bpa less than 2020
  • Hancock – Corn … yields of 214, 225, 240, 212, and 240. About 30 bpa off from last year, lots of damage, test weight is an issue
  • McDonough – Corn … 200 bpa, wind damage and stalk issues, down from last year
  • Pike County – Corn … 200 bpa, down from last year
  • Gridley – Corn … non GMO, 235 bpa, about as expected
  • Assumption – Corn … 220 bpa dry, holes in fields were avg of 160-180 bpa
  • Decatur – Corn … 231 bpa and 227 bpa, better than last year
  • Sullivan – Corn … 230 bpa, worse than expected
  • Madison – Corn … 60 acres, 228 bpa dry

 

Indiana:

  • Thorntown – Soybeans … 68 bpa, 72 bpa in 2020, 68 is 5 year APH
  • Southeast area – Soybeans, 51 bpa, last year was 80 bpa, stem canker setting in and earlier than normal death
  • Edinburgh – Corn … 212 bpa, less than 2020, 25% moisture, 56.2 test weight
  • Veedersburg – Corn … 1000 acres,  214 bpa, 24% moisture, last year was 199
  • Muncie – Corn … 200 acres, 200 bpa, similar to 2020

 

Minnesota:

  • Norman – Soybeans … 20 bpa, normal is 35-40 bpa
  • Norman – Soybeans … 33 bpa, normal is 45-50 bpa
  • Nicollet – Corn … 300 acres, 216 bpa, 24% moisture, same as 2020
  • Laverne – Soybeans … 60 bpa, 4 better than last year
