Following graduation from Iowa State (degrees in ag journalism & ag business) and his tour of duty as an information officer in U.S. Air Force, Paul ran the family dairy farm in eastern Iowa until land prices doubled in 1973, which enabled his father to retire after farming for over 50 years.
Paul began his successful 40-year career in commodities in 1974 by joining the Pro Farmer staff in Cedar Falls, Iowa. A year later he helped launch AgriVisor for Illinois Farm Bureau members. He soon returned to Pro Farmer to begin publishing their chart service called Commodity Price Charts. At the same time, he became a commodity broker and worked with farm hedgers.
In 1987, Paul moved to Florida to run the Commodity Trend Service charting publication. In 1996, Paul returned to be a full-time commodity broker and worked with investors following computerized trend following systems. Now Paul has come around full circle to work with farmers again and help them with their marketing.
Paul had crossed paths with John Roach many times when they both worked with farmers in the Midwest, and it has been a natural fit for Paul to join the Roach Ag team.
